Spring 2009
– print, phobias, photography, typography
The brief for this project was to produce a compelling A2 poster that effectively communicated your chosen phobia through typography, without the use of pictorial/ illustrative imagery. We were able to choose from seven different phobias, I chose hemophobia a fear of blood. We were allowed to create type and photograph it in situ so I decided to print my type onto film and glue it to my models neck. My aim was to focus on the unique quality of hemophobia, that it induces fainting (it is the only phobia that does this) and convey in my copy what happens when the sufferer sees blood and begins to faint.
